Hydrogen Energy Center's Role
The Hydrogen Energy Center focuses on hydrogen systems that use renewable energy sources - energy that is replenished as fast as or faster than we use it. We focus on hydrogen energy systems that can replace fossil fuels for the energy needs of New England. This is done with attention to technology developments happening throughout the world and with the objective of using the solutions throughout the world.
What activities does the Hydrogen Energy Center perform in order to reach these objectives?
-
STUDY. We pay attention to what hydrogen energy accomplishments are taking place throughout the world and evaluate how those accomplishments fit the needs of Maine and New England as well as the energy-consuming world in general.
-
COMMUNICATE. We put promising solutions in front of energy decision-makers. These can range from homeowners to building designers to government policy-makers.
-
BUILD. We turn promising technology components into working energy systems that produce hydrogen and that use hydrogen for electrical power, vehicle fuel or heat.
-
DEMONSTRATE. We present details from what we study and build to the public and to specialists who incorporate the information to build better energy systems for New England and the world.
We are not working alone. We connect and exchange information with literally hundreds of other organizations that are collectively bringing the hydrogen economy to life- in whatever shape, form and extent it will take.
